On March 30, 2021, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Italian Republic Yaroslav Melnyk presented his Credentials to the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Qu Dongyu on his accreditation to this international organization as Permanent Representative of Ukraine to FAO.

After the Ceremony they discussed the ways to deepen cooperation between Ukraine and FAO and noted the significant contribution of our country to the efforts of international community on ensuring global food security. 

At practical level Ukraine and the Organization are currently finalizing the bilateral Memorandum on Cooperation and Provision of FAO Technical Assistance Programme and are working on a number of technical assistance projects in the field of agriculture, in particular in cooperation with the EU.

Availing of this conversation the Director-General noted positively the resumption of work of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and an intention of the secretariat to establish close cooperation with it with assistance of the Permanent Representation of Ukraine in particular on preparation for a Food Systems Summit to be convened by the UN Secretary-General in September of 2021.
